Park Supermarket

A project by Van Bergen Kolpa Architecten

Park Supermarket is a prototype project based on the cultivation and collection of food in metropolitan parks in the Netherlands following the system of Dutch “polders”, marshy lands gained from the sea by means of building dykes which are dedicated to cultivation once they dry out.

The model is based on dividing one hectare into several plots, where different types of crops are farmed. Moreover, its aim is to become an area of recreation and enjoyment of nature.

The project has been designed by Van Bergen Kolpa Architecten and was awarded at the 2011 World Architecture Festival.
